Outlandaa! is the EDM project of Daniel Cook, based out of St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada.
He began producing in early 2010, with very little musical background, but a very strong technical background as a Computer Science student. Quickly absorbing as much information as possible about DAWs and synthesis, countless hours were spent learning to turn the noise into music.
In the summer of 2011, he saw some success with the release of his first free single, Hardware Failure, which was distributed by several prominant EDM blogs, gaining worldwide downloads and listenership.
Ever since, it has been a quest to keep getting better and better, with more and more releases. Most recently in March 2012, his first full album ‘The Scene’ was released, a project completed for the RPM challenge. This successful free release was also carried by several blogs, and also gained some local popularity. This popularity eventually saw its way to the rest of the east coast, when Outlandaa! was chosen to play in a showcase at ECMA Week 2012 in Moncton, New Brunswick.
Outlandaa! continues to release plenty of free music, and is currently in the process of writing demos, and trying to find a label for commercial releases.
